I’ve been really impressed with the Hello Period menstrual disc overall. The silicone feels really good quality and comfortable to wear, and once it’s in place you genuinely forget it’s there. It sits comfortably behind the pubic bone and I’ve had no leaks, even on heavier days, which was something I was initially worried about.

One of the biggest advantages is how long you can wear it compared to tampons or pads. You can comfortably go several hours without needing to think about it, which makes it really convenient for busy days, work shifts, exercise, or running. It also feels like a much more environmentally friendly option since it’s reusable rather than constantly throwing away disposable products.

It comes with a double loop removal tab, which is designed to make removal easier. Personally I found the double loop a little too long for me, but the great thing is that you can customise it. I cut it down to a single loop, and now it’s absolutely perfect — still easy to remove but much more comfortable and less noticeable.

One thing I do think is important to mention (because I didn’t see this explained much in other reviews) is that there is a learning curve when you first start using a menstrual disc. It’s quite different from tampons or even menstrual cups. At first it can take a little bit of practice to understand the correct angle for insertion and how to tuck it properly behind the pubic bone so it stays securely in place. The first couple of times I used it I wasn’t completely sure if I had positioned it correctly, but after a few attempts it became much easier and more intuitive.

Something that’s really important to know — and a huge benefit of menstrual discs — is that you don’t need to remove it when you go to the toilet. The disc can actually self-empty when you bear down to urinate, and then it naturally moves back into position afterwards. I found this really surprising the first time it happened, but it’s actually a really clever design feature and means you don’t have to take it out during the day as often as you might expect.

After a few cycles of use, it honestly becomes second nature. Once you’re used to it, it’s incredibly comfortable and convenient, and I now prefer it far more than tampons or pads.

Cleaning is straightforward — just rinse between uses and sterilise between cycles — and overall it’s been a really positive switch for me. If you’re considering trying a menstrual disc, I’d definitely recommend the Hello Period one, just with the expectation that it may take a little bit of practice to get used to it at first.

I bought disposable period discs out of curiosity for a camping trip after forgetting my menstrual cup. I loved the disposable ones and searched for a reusable one which led me to Hello! Absolutely love my Hello disc. There is a bit of learning curve, but once you get the hang of it, I much prefer it to a cup (which can be uncomfortable unless you get it JUST right and also cannot be used by people with IUDs) or tampons (which I find unsanitary).

The Hello cup eliminates some of the fussiness of a cup with the loop which makes it easy to grab. It’s easy to clean, easy to insert, and super comfortable. Love it and will never use anything else!

I have been using the Nixit cup for years... But I always had to wear a (substantial) pad for the inevitable leaks, and found it difficult to remove.
The Hello Period Menstrual Disc has solved these problems - it seems more rigid (stays in place and doesn't leak), is smooth to insert, and the loop system for removal is ingenious! I only wish it had a slightly larger capacity! Otherwise perfect! Thank you!

I was recommended this disc by the Period Nirvana quiz while waiting for my periods to return after having my baby. I'd used a menstrual cup before but always found it slightly clunky, and usually reverted to tampons, but after reading reviews of this disc I felt like there was hope for a simple, more comfortable solution. I’ve had a few discs from Hello Period and other brands. They do take some getting used to but I absolutely love that I don’t have to think about my period for up to 12 hours at a time. It’s a game changer for me. The adjustable handle is also really helpful and they’re suitable for people with an IUD.
